From September 30-October 2, Apple Valley will be the location of a Vitalocity! workshop. Vitalocity! is an initiative to integrate age-friendly design principles into cities’ social and physical infrastructure. During the intensive three-day workshop held, a team of experts on aging along with a group of strategic partners and associates from around the world will develop a roadmap for how to deliver real age friendly communities.
The City of Apple Valley will host the opening workshop on Wednesday, September 30th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Apple Valley Senior Center, 14601 Hayes Road. This day will focus on the experiences of City residents, and whether they think Apple Valley is an age-friendly community. The City is looking for residents to share their experiences, pictures, and ideas about Apple Valley. All Apple Valley residents are invited and encouraged to attend the Wednesday event. The second and third days of the workshop will be geared towards the experts in the field of aging and will be held at another location in Apple Valley.
Participants in the Minnesota workshop include The City of Apple Valley, world leading retirement communities, senior housing and services experts, experts in nutrition and leading technology companies. Members of the team include representatives from the World Health Organization, Minnesota-based Ecumen, Kendal Corporation, BusinessLab, Perkins Eastman and Sodexo.
