In remembrance and acknowledgment of the tenth anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, residents of and visitors to the City of Apple Valley are invited to gather at each of the three fire stations on Sunday, September 11 at 8:45 a.m. to join the Apple Valley Fire Department in honoring those who lost their lives on 9-11.
Apparatus will be pulled out onto the apron of each station and firefighters in dress uniform will line up in front of the apparatus display. At 8:59 a.m. each station will ring a bell 5-5-5 (three sets of five chimes each), which is a fire service tradition indicating one’s last alarm. At 9:00 a.m. the emergency lights of all apparatus will be displayed with firefighters bowing their heads in silence for one minute.
At the conclusion of the moment of silence, firefighters will be dismissed from their formation and will be available to show their apparatus and fire station to those in attendance.
