[ARCHIVED] Watchdog Walkers

The Apple Valley Police Department is introducing a new program aimed at getting residents involved in watching for and reporting suspicious activity.

The program is called Watchdog Walkers and we are kicking it off on Tuesday, August 12 in Kelley Park in Apple Valley! Watchdog Walkers are people who are usually out and about in our community walking their dogs (or biking, running, or just surveying their neighborhoods). This program encourages people to become the eyes and ears of the Police Department by watching for and reporting suspicious activity. Come join us for a free kickoff event on Wednesday, August 12 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Kelley Park (6855 Fortino St., Apple Valley) and bring your 4-legged friend with you. The event will be held, rain or shine! We will be giving away free reflective pet tags for our Canine friendlies. Palomino Pet Hospital will be offering reduced fee services for your pet, Dog Day Getaway will be on hand to talk to you about doggy daycare options and other services they offer. Chuck and Don's Pet Food Outlet and Hugable Mugs will also be in attendance with offers for services and products aimed at making your walking experience more enjoyable. And, Healthsource of Apple Valley will have staff available offering free chair massages for the humans in the group!
