[ARCHIVED] Don’t Veer for Deer

November is the peak time for deer-vehicle crashes as deer are in their mating season and become much more active. When encountering a deer in your vehicle, it’s safer to brake and hit a deer rather than swerve into oncoming traffic or go off the road.

No longer are deer just in rural areas.  Apple Valley has an abundance of deer living in our community.  They are most often seen during dawn and dusk hours. November is the peak time for deer-vehicle crashes as deer are in their mating season and become much more active.  When encountering a deer in your vehicle, it’s safer to brake and hit a deer rather than swerve into oncoming traffic or go off the road.  In the last three years, 15 deaths were attributed to deer-vehicle crashes in the state of Minnesota.  Please drive safely!
