The Apple Valley Police Department has been investigating a possible criminal sexual assault involving a former employee of Independent School District 196. The employee, Charles Schroeder, was a district employee from 1972 to 1993. The alleged assault took place while Schroeder worked at Valley Middle School in Apple Valley. The incident was reported in December; roughly 37 years after the incident took place.
As part of the investigation, numerous pieces of evidence were discovered which leads detectives to believe that Schroeder may have victimized more people around that time and subsequent to his employment with the school district. The Apple Valley Police Department is continuing their investigation. Persons with information regarding other incidents involving Schroeder are asked to contact Detective Sean McKnight at 952-953-2888.
