The City recently installed 2 raingardens to treat runoff from the Apple Valley Community Center parking lots with technical and financial assistance from the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD). This attractive addition to the Community Center serves a greater purpose. Pollution is filtered out of stormwater runoff directed to the gardens, and the gardens were designed with pollinator friendly native plants to provide habitat. The plants are still small but will reach full size in the next 1-2 years.
