Night to Unite will look different in 2020. Officers will not be visiting parties in person. City staff is working on a message for the community which will be released on October 6th.
Night to Unite is an annual event that enhances the relationship between residents and law enforcement which is a critical component to building safe and healthy communities. The event also provides an opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances. Apple Valley has had great success with this event over the years having over 100 neighborhoods join together each year for the purpose of crime prevention, relationship building, and community awareness. Minnesota’s host agency, The Minnesota Crime Prevention Association recommended delaying the celebration until the first Tuesday in October. Due to the pandemic and sustained infection concerns, Night to Unite will look different in Apple Valley this year.
For years the Apple Valley Police Department has partnered with the other city departments along with our elected officials to ensure residents were provided information on all aspects of city services. Most importantly, we remind residents that we are available to them at any time to address questions they have about their community from our roadways, to our parks, to our police and fire departments. Our availability and partnership remains!
We are working hard with our other city partners to create a unifying message for you. Please be sure to check our social media sites on Tuesday October 6th for our Night to Unite message. We look forward to a successful 2020 Night to Unite even though it might look different than years past!
