The Apple Valley Police Department is joining forces with victim serivce providers, criminal justice agencies, and concerned citizens throughout the county and America to raise awareness of victims' rights and observe National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

18.7 million Americans are directly harmed by crime each year, and each crime affects many more family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers and leaves lasting physical, emotional or financial impact on people of all ages and abilities. Today thousands of victim assistance programs provide help and support to victims. National Crime Victims' Rights Week provides an opportunity to celebrate the energy, creativity and commitment that launched the victims' rights movement, inspired its progress, and continues to advance the cause of justice for crime victims. Visit any Dakota County public library for victim services information during Crime Victims' Rights Week. Join 360 Communities for a candlelight walk at the Lewis House in Eagan in remembrance of victims and in support of survivors onWednesday, April 24 at 7:30 p.m.
