The only fireworks that are legal for consumer sale, purchase, possession, and use in Minnesota are those that do not explode and those that do not leave the ground. Examples of these are; sparklers, cones, snakes and poppers. These consumer fireworks may only be purchased by someone at least 18 years of age and are not allowed to be used on public property.

Please keep in mind that legal fireworks can be extremely dangerous and cause injury. Sparklers can burn at up to 1,200 degrees.

“It takes only one incident to cause irreversible damage,” said State Fire Marshal Jerry Rosendahl. “It just takes a few precautions to be confident about the safety of your children, your neighbors, and your property. Then you can really enjoy the holiday.”
