In the interest of water preservation and to reduce the demand on the public utility system during peak hours the City of Apple Valley implements a seasonal watering ban during day-time hours over the summer months. While in effect watering of lawns and gardens by means of irrigation systems or by sprinklers should not take place between the hours of 11 AM and 6 PM; May 1st through September 30th. Watering restrictions apply to residential and commercial properties. Watering during these time periods reduces the amount of water received by the lawns and gardens since most of the water is lost to evaporation. The best time to water lawns and gardens is in the early morning and late evening when temperatures are lower. Children’s water toys, hand watering, and watering of newly planted sod or trees are excluded from the watering restrictions.
